Thoughts

Surrender to the sound
The silence that speaks so loud
When I'm alone all the voices shout
The sounds of crowds drown them out

Why do they seem so far away?
Why do they insist on speaking?
Even if I run forever and so far
I can't escape the way they are

For they are a part of me
They belong to who I am
They can't be lost or fought
Who are they? They are my thoughts

Glorious Ruin

Alistair Begg came to convo at LU last Friday. Something he said has stuck in my mind. I have been unable to get the thought out of my mind. The beauty of the idea it strikes in my head. I wrote this while thinking about it:

Created in perfection

Glorious image of the Devine

Fallen disaster

Made to live eternity

Designed to perish, to need a Savior

Broken and dismantled

Devoid of the Origin

Remnant of the forgotten

Remember what you were

Glorious

Realize what you are

A ruin

Piece for LAMP

LU has a magazine that publishes poetry, photography, essays and short novels that are submitted by former or current LU faculty, staff and students. So naturally I thought I would submit some poetry and photography. But I would like some help.

Please just write a comment here or e-mail me at cagil@liberty.edu to tell me what are a couple of your favorite poems. It will be so hard to decided what to submit and your opinion would help tremendously.

Thank you so much!

A brighter light

'Tis a blessing in disguise
this robbery of life from the young

We see it and cry
yet, it is the essence of longing

The fountain of youth,
it has been truly discovered in this

How many grew old searching?
their life disproving their search

There are those who will be forever young
those who never grew old on this earth

The fountain of youth
it is the cup of death

Do not shudder
it is nothing you can seek and find

It lies only in Divine will
And he appoints to whom He desires

Those around us who have this mandate
to be in our minds forever young

They seem to live more than others
their flame never dims

The flickering of a weak flame
it is never their fate

It is bright! Shining for a time
and then snuffed in an instant

But while it burns
There is a brighter light among us

These lives are truly lived
truly given as a gift

Let us treasure and remember
the forever young

They stay, unchanging in time
like a song repeating but never growing dull

A brighter light! A richer life!
A sweeter tune that never grows old

Time cannot change their face
death has conquered age

Live on, oh young!
Forever in our hearts as so.

From A long time ago...at least it feels like a long time

I'm bored...lets see if my mind can spontaneously come up with something worth saving.

What to do? Oh, what to do!
The mac lab in use seems like a lame excuse

Homework is due and there's a chance of snow
Class may be canceled but I still don't know

My brain is like a calm sea
Nothing on the surface, but everything beneath

Can I sink and stir up the thoughts that lie at the bottom?
Can I pull them up and find a word to rhyme?

No, I guess not! This is getting worse by the minute,
Its horrid but I just can't get myself to stop!

Only half the lines even rhyme!
Its sad to say that I have all this time

And nothing to do, nobody to talk to
Nothing to read and no one on fb

I will quit here before I make things worse,
The content of this poem really seems quite perverse

To make anybody waste their time with reading this,
just has to be a sin

The end in sight, time almost spent,
I guess, I hope that I win!

OK WOW! So I am so tempted to ditch this trash...but something in me won't allow it. Guess I'll laugh about it later.

...later (4-17-2010) Really, looking at this now its not that bad...kinda funny and so I'm going to post it. :)

"for you"

A poem I jotted down the other day. I folded the paper and it has been in my back jeans pocket for like 2 weeks. I figured it was about time to post it.

Hands clasp,
I look up

Kind eyes,
pleasant smile

We talk,
as though old friends

The formality of handshake,
passes, fades

A warm embrace,
takes it's place

How sweet!
A new friendship

New, yet mature
from many words exchanged

A word, a touch,
a look, a smile

I wait for our next meeting...

Fading...

I just found this one while reading through my journal.

Like a fading flower
life excuses itself
from our presence
Never to return

Oh! Short Life!
So fleeting, yet so fragrant
So gentle, yet so strong
reflecting on the pool
of the world; Life,
Fleeting...
Fading...

The Real Angel

Innocent and blind
Captured in a trance
Memory is still the best
Waiting for a return of hope

Father's angel, that is you
Not the one you think
He is not as he seems
He is darkness itself

Seduced by you
He is enthralled by your beauty
Trying your hand in his own
Feeling a touch he has never known

Angel in Hell

Angel in Hell

Malicious, mad, man
You cold, thirst for blood
seductive Spirit
When will you realize what
you really are?

Adept toward evil,
your mind gone mad
With self pity

She called you an angel
but Heaven was not your abode
Rather, the dark caves
of your mad wanderings

Yes, even the pit of Hell
you called yourself rightly
Cold and starved, hardened by grief
as you said, The Angel in Hell

time...

Its time I put something new on here but I don't feel like transferring anything right now.
Maybe I have one that I've never posted...think so...nope. Just have to think of something now I guess.

Time...

Hours, minutes, seconds...
what is time to lock us in its grip?
We are bound by space and matter and...Time!

We can't escape, it holds us
we must run by it, live by it
Love by it and die

That is the tragedy,
for time to let go we must die...

Forever Untold

Even though there aren't any comments on the last 2 posts *ahem* I thought it was about time to put a new one on here.

Hiding in a dark,
stormy place

With lightning
bursting all 'round me

Waiting here
for what? Surety

Looking for myself
looking for my life in yours

It is hard to see
clouded by many thoughts

Doubts of your concern
of my care; Is it real?

I am tortured
with many thoughts

Why can't we
just be honest

No, it can't be
I will hold on

Possibly die
waiting for you

My story,
Forever untold

There's no Sunset in Virginia

This guy did a much better job than I did.
It's a really pretty song...you should go on you tube sometime and watch the video.

The Tv, replaying like a broken record
The image, its numbing, another record broken

More question, no answers, left to imagination
Alarming, disturbing, what are the implications?
All Alone, and all at once, we ask why they had to die

There's no sunset in Virgnia
the Earth is standing still
The mighty may have fallen
The pain never will
Thers's no sunset in Virgnia
You see it in our eyes.
But if there is no nightfall
The sun will never rise

The candles are burning, blocking out the darkness
By thousands they flicker, light and sorromw linger
The silence is deafening, reliving consternation
Reminder, that violence cut short their aspirations
Now as one, we take a vow: Protect the light for better days to come

There's no sunset in Virgnia
the Earth is standing still
The innocent have fallen
Our pain never will
Thers's no sunset in Virgnia
The vigil keeps the light.
We all need the nightfall
Or the sun will never rise

All at once we look up to the sky and remember all the ones we left behind.
As the sun begins to set the sunrise sets us free

Let the sunset in Virginia
So the earth begins to move
The victims we remember
As the pain will keep it tue
Let the sunset in Virginia
So the healing can begin.
I survuved this nightfall
So the sun will rise again.

The Tragedy of April sixteenth

We are here to help
here to stand
Here for those in need

The commonwealth
of all who care
to pray for those who grieve

A tragedy
a great loss
No one could predict

Taken by a madman
thirty two by count

Brave were all
all who were lost
And all who yet survive

No one could know
none dare think
that this thing would be

But here we are
mourning now
because of 33

Who would do
such a thing?
to hurt so many lives

They'll never forget
this April 16th
they're gone forever now

We can't take back
but we can hold on
to all that we still have

I may not know
the pain you're in
or just how it may feel

But I know
that we must stand
together side by side

If we want to make it
through another day

So commonwealth
of all who care
pray until you die

For madmen such as these
to never take more lives

Pray for strength
pray for hope
That in a better place

All who believed
are there now
and trust in Gods great grace

To sanctify
this Nation
it is never too late

To return
to what we once knew
"In God we put our trust"

America, America
hold fast to all you knew

And keep the lights still burning
keep them pure
and true

So when next April rolls around
you will not forget

The ones who gave,
the ones who died
and hold them in respect

It may be hard
to realize
that you will smile again

But together,
with God's help
we will never die

A place

You've been a good girl Grym; so I'll give you another one to comment on. lol

A place where
many frightened people pray

Yet a place of beauty
some confide in the cold stones

Flowers garnish them
the words are read over and again

Faded and cracked
mourned over and old

Many generations
many people brought together here

Here all are one
United in one thing

The bond of living
to loving dead

When the wind
through the grass whispers

Why are we afraid?
this is not a place to fear

This is where memories collide
a place of unrestrained feelings

Do not shy away
smile for your heart

Keep it alive
sorrow weighs us down

I relish my moments
in this place

A place to reminisce...

A Noble (or not so noble) Confession

New...but not improved. Well here it is...I said I'd post it before too long.

A desperate attempt at recapturing a lost moment, reliving a lost dream, rewriting a lost poem:

I think of you
as I gaze accross the stars
Even though we're far apart
I can feel your presence

Across wide galaxies
through endless time
Our love will keep us together
I will come back to you

When I see your eyes
your love shines through
Forever gazing accross the skies
I dream of us together once more

I see your hurt, pain
what is it my love?
we once were together
even when accross the stars

I see your life fail and wain
before me you lie, pleading
What have I done?
Is our forever so short?

Is it my fault,
the cause of your sorrow?
Oh my love! If ever you again
can reach to me accross the heavens

I will hear you
if I can ever make up for the loss
I know I can't, I've done so wrong
Nothing can fix it, but I beg mercy

I will turn again
to the path I once trod
To the deeds I once knew
I will try to make right

But alas! For my poor soul
it is too late to bring you back
When now I gaze and search the stars
I no longer see your smiling face

Only my memory
can replay the image of you
When I was once your love and all
I have failed, but perhaps we my meet

When beyond the stars
and spaces between I travel
then may I find you again
And again hold you, my love

Feb. 18th 2007

I don't like the way I ended it...it really is rather abrupt. Well...I'll just have to get over it I guess.
S'long,
Chrysler

p.s. Shouldn't there be a line somewhere about "not living without you"? lol

No one else will do...but you

Hey, I know its mushy...but it is Valentines Day.

Following after shadows
gathering up my dreams
I realize no one will do,
But you

An evening...after midnight
gazing at the stars
I know that your the only one
That can fill my heart

This empty hole inside me
Only you can fill
Make it whole again...
As only you can

No one else in my mind
no one in my heart
Of all the people on the earth
Only you will do

No one else but you
to walk by my side
to travel a lifelong road
with me

If you never come
I'll be left alone
Because no one else but you...
will do

Another spontaneous inspiration from the mind of Chrysler the Great.

"The short poem"

There...I finally wrote a short one!

All

A smile, a word
that is all I have of you
All you ever gave me
I need more, but you deny it

Why do you distrust me?

fimmtudagur, febrúar 01, 2007

Mara, Mara

Listing through the reeds
a breeze blows your voice to me

I remember so well when you called
Now I call you from accross the other shore

Mara, Mara, mysterious whisperings
They call to me through the tall grass

But when I come, there is no one
Oh Mara, the face I once saw smile

When you peeked at me and beckoned me to follow
When we ran free through the fields...together

What has happened? I was long away
And now I come back, but you are gone

Mara, Mara, your mem'ry is but a shadow
Your sighing voice haunts me

Have I failed you Mara? Are my Journeyings vain adventures?
Your silhouette wanderes through the forests...Mara, I was not here for you.

Now I must lay me down to weep and mourn
Do you frown on me from above? Does my sorrow make you happy?

Are your listeneing to my laments or is my voice forever muted?

Wrote that just now.

The sound of crying
greets my ears
Why? I do not know
there is sorrow in the land

Why must this earth tremble,
why do sorrow overcome it?
Is there no path to peace,
no road to Heaven?

The world groans,
in pity we mourn over it
Is it our fault?
it is Satan's greed has caused it

He lusted for power
gain it he did
But decieved is he who thinks,
"I will be like the Most High"

His power is short,
his reign is limited
He will die,
cast out, punished for life

The in a perfect world,
we will walk the earth
Free and happy,
all pain will be gone

The Night will End

Blackness, shadow
Dark clouds blot out the light

Dimness, gray vapor
The hopeful grow weary

Tears, suffering
Many have fallen

Pain, sadness
More will die

Grim fear, dim hope
The weary begin to fear

Fear, anguish
Do not succumb, there is hope

Light, peace
The dimness fades

Strength, hope
The patient are renewed

The sun, valor
These showed courage

Faint not, keep on
The cloud passes over

Wind, strength
It lilts past, breathing

Mercy, hope revealed
The darkness has faded

Look! The East
The skies brighten

Hope, peace
Once more has come

Weary ones, rest now
The night is over

Inspired from something Sam said at the end of The Two Towers. He is so awesome and said some very profound things. I wish I could remember the exact quote. It was really beautiful.
