The Tragedy of April sixteenth

We are here to help
here to stand
Here for those in need

The commonwealth
of all who care
to pray for those who grieve

A tragedy
a great loss
No one could predict

Taken by a madman
thirty two by count

Brave were all
all who were lost
And all who yet survive

No one could know
none dare think
that this thing would be

But here we are
mourning now
because of 33

Who would do
such a thing?
to hurt so many lives

They'll never forget
this April 16th
they're gone forever now

We can't take back
but we can hold on
to all that we still have

I may not know
the pain you're in
or just how it may feel

But I know
that we must stand
together side by side

If we want to make it
through another day

So commonwealth
of all who care
pray until you die

For madmen such as these
to never take more lives

Pray for strength
pray for hope
That in a better place

All who believed
are there now
and trust in Gods great grace

To sanctify
this Nation
it is never too late

To return
to what we once knew
"In God we put our trust"

America, America
hold fast to all you knew

And keep the lights still burning
keep them pure
and true

So when next April rolls around
you will not forget

The ones who gave,
the ones who died
and hold them in respect

It may be hard
to realize
that you will smile again

But together,
with God's help
we will never die
